Introducing: "Sunny Three" 3 of 8 in the Daddybot Series

Meet Sunny Three!

Sunny's Tagline: Friends are the Sunshine of Life...

As advertised in Sunny's Upload to the Exchange: "Sunny Three, the happiest simbot model in the Envious Sims line! You just can't help but smile along with him!"

He's good, friendly and has a great sense of humor. His one flaw, however, is he's a coward. But being a scaredy-cat isn't gonna stop Sunny from being your best friend forever... just don't take him out to a vampire lounge after dark...

If you'd like to download Sunny and his little yellow simbot habitat house, here is the Exchange Link:

http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=3696733

Here's Sunny modeling his lovely little yellow microhouse habitat:

Sunny's worrying about swimming in this photo - that's because all simbots are hydrophobic for obvious reasons - they'll short out if they get wet! Sunny's extra worried though, because he's a coward and kindof scared of a lot of things. He makes up for that with his extra friendly and happy personality!

Sunny's House is a 10x10 "microhabitat" as I like to call them. Each one comes with everything your simbot needs (except scrap to eat) to get started in your neighborhood, on a budget. It's a great starter house at 16k furnished and 11k unfurnished, with room to expand upstairs (add a crib maybe!)... Here's his house, sitting next to Romeo Two's house (Romeo tends to scare Sunny with his dramatic displays)...

Sunny's Theme Song is:

Yellow - by Coldplay

As always, my microhabitats are 3rd party CC FREE - nothing more than furniture/items that come with the Expansion packs (world adventures, ambitions and late night) are used in their construction. You will need at least Ambitions in order to play a Simbot.

See my other blog entries and my studio for the Blue and Red model simbots to add to your collection.

Have fun and please recommend it on the Exchange if you like!

Meet Romeo - Second in a Series of 8 Simbots (aka "Daddybots")

Meet Romeo Two:

Romeo's Tagline: "It takes Two to Tango!"

Romeo's the number 'Two' model simbot - and a total opposite of Blue, the lonely 'One' model. While both simbots share the hopeless romantic trait, Romeo's got this programming down pat - he's flirty and a virtuoso, which combined with dramatic - makes him a very outgoing and talented simbot who is popular with the ladies.

Romeo loves Red, of course, and all things dramatic and loud. He's chosen a lot of crazy patterns and bright reds, pinks, black and white for his little micro-habitat. Here's Red, showing off (fake passed out) in front of his house. He's next door neighbors with Blue, you can see Blue's house too... but Blue's hiding inside chatting online and won't come out to play with Romeo.

If you'd like to download Romeo and his little Red house, here's the link to it on the Exchange:

http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=3675485

As with Blue One's house, Romeo's is third party CC free, but contains a few standard objects from the Expansion packs (Ambitions and World Adventures) and you must have Ambitions in order to play a simbot. This house is only around 18k furnished and 13k unfurnished - great starter house on a tiny 10x10 lot.

Here's Romeo's theme song:

Sexy Robots...

Romeo, Blue and 6 other simbots are the soon-to-be Daddybots to some wonderful simdroid babies. Special trained scientist ladies have been chosen to work with Envious Sims Labs to create these unique sim-beings. Stay tuned for more info as things progress with the project. The other Simbot Dads will be released for upload soon! Thanks and have fun simming!

Meet the Simbots: Blue One (Part 1 of 8)

I thought it would be cool to introduce the 'babydaddies' in my newest simbot / sim /simdroid project.

"ES42" (Envious Sims 42) Laboratories is the unofficial name I've tagged my studio of creations with on the Sims Community forums. Here is my profile:

http://www.thesims3.com/mypage/Envie42

I'm creating a line of 'Simdroids' (or Androsims) - who are half Simbot, half Sim. I made an experimental group (after the initial two prototypes Anna and Tech) but the world they were growing up on started to get some serious bugs (terrain sinking etc) and so I shelfed them for a bit and started a new batch on an old saved copy of Sunset Valley I called "Goddess Envie's World" because I had removed almost all of the original houses and sims and replaced them with my own or ones I had downloaded.

This new batch is also improved because I have learned a few tricks and things to watch for in my Simbot Fathers (like hidden undesirable traits and physical attributes) and also NOT to use custom content skins, hair, eyes etc on my Sim Mothers... those were both errors I made on the first generation. I also learned how to recolor (without cheats) the exterior of my simbots. I don't care for the rusty old look that you get most of the time by default and found you could use CAS to edit their 'clothing' like a Sim so long as you didn't try picking out any different hair/clothing/skintones etc. Their heads are just 'hat' objects you can recolor too. So I had fun making 8 different simbot Fathers-to-be of various colors.

And so, enough chattering about it aside, I introduce to you the first in my series of Daddybots...

Meet "Blue One"

(each simbot has his own numbered version / surname)

Blue's Tagline: One is the lonliest number that you'll ever do...  (reference Three Dogs Night song) ;)

Blue is, as I advertised him on The Sims 3 Exchange upload of him, "A simotionally overclocked simbot" - which means he's 'over-emotional' ... and a hopeless romantic too (lock up your small household appliances!). There's one problem however - his fatal flaw: loner. This trait makes it very difficult for Blue to overcome himself and deal with all this crazy simotional programming. He's also a computer whiz, so he ends up spending most of his time holed up at home, surfing the web and chatting online for his social fix.

Blue's House is... well... BLUE! He loves blue, and he loves geometric patterns so his house has a lot of stripes, checks and such - in blue of course. Here's Blue showing off his cute little house:

I built this tiny 'micro-house' on a 10x10 lot - the smallest you can make in the game. It's a challenge to fit everything in that a single (or couple) would need to start out and keep it on a fairly reasonable budget - I've never been good at cheap starter lots. I managed to get this one down to around 21k furnished and 15k unfurnished with NO custom content (very proud of myself managing that, haha).

Blue One and his Blue House can be downloaded from The Sims 3 Exchange here:

http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=3670267

I'm not going to reveal the lucky lady chosen to be Blue's mate in my Simdroid creation project just yet, but she's beautiful too. :) After all of the Simbot Dads have had their debut, I will introduce the lovely ladies, and then the simdroid children (who are just now toddlers) will soon follow.

In honor of Blue, I chose the following song as his special 'theme song'

"Blue his house
With a blue little window
And a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him
And himself and everybody around
Cause he ain't got nobody to listen to ..."

Builder's Blues

Ok, so let me preface this by saying I'm still very much a novice at building good lots in Sims 3. I can redecorate/recolor already made lots really well - making them look much nicer, or with better room layouts. I do understand the basics of how walls, foundations and even that maddening roof tool work. I also understand terrain  - mostly. The issue I'm having right now is with terrain elevation. A serious issue that may cost me hours of work on two lots I am redecorating / renovating for rflong's Moon Base Charlie World.

You can find the thread about Moon Base Charlie here, if you're interested in her cool moon world:

http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/306091.page

So rf's world is very nice looking and she's added some very simplistic futuristic looking cube style buildings and houses, and some houses in domes too. Me, being the perfectionist, decided I wanted to modify a few of her houses to make them suit my idea of what living on a low-atmospheric condition world would be like. Obviously this moon has to have breathable air on it because Sims 3 has outdoor roads that must be used to access service sims, schoolbuses, etc... so unless you want a barren world where those venues won't be used (it can work on a tropical island, I've done it) - then you need roads. If you use roads, then Sims have to go outside. Sooo... my theory, with Moon Base Charlie - is that its a world that has terraforming started, and has an atmosphere now, but isn't very hospitable - so most sims will stay indoors or under domes unless traveling to / from another location. I decided I wanted 'airlocks' on those houses not under domes. Hence began my remodel project of one of her housing lots.

Well to make things easier, I decided to use a world called "Builder's Island DIY" from armiel on ModtheSims. It's just a simple island world with one road, and space on either end for up to a 60x60 lot and a 30x30 lot. This is where I put the 30x30 lot from rflong's moonbase to build it out. When I was finished, I saved it to the bin and went back to Moon Base Charlie to reinstall it on the same lot.

Well this is what I got:

You can see the original, unaltered house on another lot to the left of my now 'tricked out' moon colony house.

Ok, so I went in build/buy mode and I used 'flatten lot' to see if that would fix this wonkiness.

This is what I got:

SIGH - this is not what I wanted!

So apparently either the moving of lots back and forth, or some elevation issue unknown to me on either of the worlds (I am not going to blame one or the other and hopefully talk to each of their creators) has created this bunkus. The worst part is because of those column foundations, I can't fix this problem. Deleting anything like steps and foundation does not lower your house :(

I'm scouring the net trying to find a fix for this issue. I have tried flattening the lot on builder's island as well as moon base world - neither looks elevated to me, they are both right next to the road and seem flat. Why is this happening? Arrrgh,

Like I said at the beginning of my blog post - I'm a novice at building - so I am hoping this is just something I don't understand about how terrain works. If its a bug due to player-made CAW tool stuff, then I'm probably screwed and will have to redo this whole lot. That makes me sad. I really put a lot of work into the machinery of the airlock entrance... metalic textures, panels, windows, etc.

I'm off to look for help from the savvy (and friendly) TS3 builder community!

EDIT (1/23/2011) Found a fix that works - sortof. (It works for some lot bugs, not others) go here:

http://www.flyingacres.com/NeighborlySims3/showthread.php?tid=1763&pid=30124

This helpful simmer found a way to use the elevation cheatcode to bring the house foundation back to normal height. This trick worked for my moon colony house all but one block up - that still would not go away. I moved every piece of furniture, windows/doors and decor back down where it should be, but could not delete the stairs no matter what I did. I gave up in frustration. I may try it again later with more research. For now, I'm not doing a lot of building and am renovating / remodeling some old lots I had stored to try avoiding the bug that came after Ambitions with lot placement. I'm also about to release my newest batch of simbots and simdroids - yay!

Fixed Anna

It's been brought to my attention from another Simmer's attempts to load Anna into the game-world, that she does not have any simbot traits.

I've just figured out why Anna (and other sims like vampires) don't download correctly with their alternative traits / looks / features... I was uploading it from CAS which makes them into a .sim file instead of a sims3 package file. I think you have to use the latter in order for strange things like custom content (hairstyles, etc) to show up correctly.

I've re-uploaded Anna to the Exchange as a Family file instead of a .sim file. She should correctly play as a simdroid / androsim now.

Here's the link:
